Dark Star Orchestra

by Metroland Staff on November 29, 2012

THE EGG, WEDNESDAY

It’s hard enough to triangulate what an average jamband might play on any given night by looking at recent setlists. It’s doubly hard with the Dark Star Orchestra, who have been re-creating actual Grateful Dead shows for half as long as the Dead were actually a band. Late November has seen the band returning to the Dead’s golden era of the early- to mid-’70s, with one show from 1987 slipped in to stir things up. Which means that something around, oh, ’74 seems likely. Or maybe ’88. Or maybe we’re full of shit and you should just go and see what happens. (Dec. 5, 7:30 PM, $29.25, Empire State Plaza, Albany, 473-1845)
