’Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a . . . holy crap what was that? The Christmas ornaments are coming to life! Gingerbread men are twisting and tumbling! Tin soldiers are dancing! Strange looking fairies are flying through the air, twisting, spinning and turning! And everything sparkles!
If there’s tumbling and sparkling, it must be s “cirque” show: In this case, it’s Cirque Dreams Holidaze, a holiday-themed spectacular, which begins a three-day run on the Mainstage at Proctors tomorrow (Friday).
In a review published a few days ago, a critic for the Naples (Fla.) News wrote, “What Cirque does—exceptionally well—is splash out on the ‘oooohhhh,’ ‘aaaahhhh’ and ‘oh my god wow’ element that comes from watching acrobats twist through impossible poses suspended above the stage or balanced on nothing more than a rickety tin can. And everything shimmers, shines, glitters and glows.”
Cirque Dreams Holidaze will be presented Friday (Dec. 28) through Sunday (Dec. 30) on the Mainstage at Proctors (432 State St., Schenectady). Performances are Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 and 8 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM. Tickets are $20-$50. For more info, call the box office at 346-6204.
