Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre have made a name for themselves—and built a nice following—up yonder at historic, lovely Hubbard Hall in Cambridge. If you have not yet made the trek to check them out, however, you’re in luck. It’s that old saying come to life: The mountain has come to Mohammed. Specifically, Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre are settling into the GE Theatre at Proctors for an extended run, presenting Giuseppe Verdi’s beloved tragedy La Traviata.
Directed by Heidi Lauren Duke, and with musicians conducted by Maria Sensi Sellner, this production will feature full costumes and staging, and will be sung by a talented cast in Italian (with supertitles) accompanied by a 22-piece orchestra. So, come and swoon again to the doomed romance of Violetta and Alfredo.
La Traviata will open tonight (Thursday, Feb. 7) at 7:30 PM and run through Feb. 17 at the GE Theatre at Proctors (432 State St., Schenectady). Performances are Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets are $40. For more info, call the box office at 346-6204.
