A circus that’s “anti-spectacle”? Sacrilege!

And yet, that’s the essence of how the idea of a “circus” has been reinvented by the Montreal-based company 7 Fingers. The troupe brings their show, Traces, to Schenectady for a two-night stand at Proctors beginning Wednesday.

Traces “strips away everything you thought you knew about the Big Top and fuses the traditions of circus with the energy of street performance.” And all of this is set to the music of Radiohead, VAST, Blackalicious and more.

Traces will be performed by 7 Fingers at 8 PM on Wednesday (Feb. 27) and Feb. 28 on the Mainstage at Proctors (432 State St., Schenectady). Tickets are $20-$65. For tickets and more info, call the box office at 346-6204.
