These Shining Lives

by The Staff on February 22, 2013

Curtain Call Theatre is currently presenting the regional premiere of Melanie Marnich’s These Shining Lives, a true-to-life play about working women whose jobs are, literally, killing them.

Set in the early 20th century, These Shining Lives tells the story of women working in a watch factory, spending their days applying radium paint to watch faces so they will glow in the dark. The company has little interest in (or awareness of) the workers’ safety, and the workers know nothing of the dangers of radiation. Directed by Cindy Brizzell-Bates, the production stars (l-r) Sarah Wasserbach, Lydia Nightingale, Tara Burnham and Dana Goodknight (photo by Kevin Gardner).

These Shining Lives opens Friday (Feb. 22) and will run through March 23 at Curtain Call Theatre (210 Old Loudon Road, Latham). Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM. Tickets are $23. For more info, call 877-7529.
