One of the iconic pop artists of the 1970s is on tour for the first time in more than a decade, and she’s coming to Troy tonight. Aussie-born Helen Reddy is probably most widely known for her—yes, we’ll say it again—iconic hit “I Am Woman,” but she has a wide-ranging sensibility that encompasses a variety of material.
Scanning reviews of her recent shows, there’s one aspect that’s stressed over and over: The 71-year-old still sounds great. As Reddy recently told the Chicago Tribune, “Everyone says, ‘Your voice sounds exactly the same.’ ”
Expect to hear many of her great hits, including “Woman” and “Angie Baby.”
Helen Reddy will perform tonight (Thursday, March 21) at 8 PM at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall (2nd and State streets, Troy). Tickets are $36, $28. For more info, call the box office at 273-0038.
