Once upon a time Cathy Rigby was a world-class gymnast, but nearly four decades ago—four decades? How is this possible?—she made a successful transition to acting. While she’s been acclaimed for her starring roles in stage productions of Annie Get Your Gun and Meet Me in St. Louis, it is her Tony Award-nominated performance as J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan that has become her signature role. And, after swearing off playing Pan—and even doing a “farewell tour”—Rigby, ageless at 60, is back to delight audiences at Proctors again as the boy who never grows old.
As Rigby recently told the Tulsa (Okla.) World, “I haven’t missed a show in a year and a half, and I’m jumping and high-kicking as much as ever. It’s something people expect and enjoy, and I want to make sure I can deliver.”
Peter Pan runs through April 14 on the Mainstage at Proctors (432 State St., Schenectady). Showtimes are April 13 at 8 PM; and matinees April 13-14 at 2 PM. Tickets are $20-$70. For more info, call 346-6204.
