Stuart’s paintings blend her interest in 19th-century French painting techniques with inspiration gained from “an abstraction of our architectural landscape, buildings under construction or abandoned.”
Carsten, a member of the Pastel Society of America, paints work that “explores the aesthetics of recycled materials . . . and creates a dialogue between deeply rooted ideas of art making and the global awareness around ecology.” Pictured is Stuart’s Can You Breathe (2012).
