Simply put, the Dirty Projectors may well be the most influential art-rock band making music today. They’ve written for Björk, performed with David Byrne and been compared to everyone from Bob Dylan to Yes. Bitte Orca, their 2009 album, was widely heralded as one of that year’s best, and last year’s Swing Lo Magellan probably only missed those honors due to how high they’d already set the bar.
Similarly, it’s tempting to congradulate Skidmore on another blockbuster spring show selection—but they’re honestly so consistent in their good booking that this one comes as little surprise.
Here’s another reason to check this one out: Delicate Steve. The Luaka Bop band are largely instrumental and rely on slide guitar for melodic leads but, you know, not in an Allman Brothers kind of way. Trust us.
The Dirty Projectors and Delicate Steve come to Skidmore College’s Williamson Sports Center (815 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs) on Saturday (April 13) at 9 PM. Tickets are $20. Visit brownpapertickets.com for more info.
