Leo Kottke

by The Staff on April 24, 2013

The Egg, Friday

Master of the six- and 12-string guitars, Leo Kottke doesn’t need a new record or some kind of gimmick to justify his going back out on the road. The fingerstyle virtuoso, and breakout star of the Takoma school of American primitivism pioneered by John Fahey, has a vast catalog of tunes under his fingers and even more oddball stories off the top of his head. The 67-year-old hasn’t put out a new record since 2004, but he’s stomped around through various guitar summits and crashed Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion stage more than a couple times these past few years.
