“My work,” writes painter Melanie Kozol in the notes to her new show at the Courthouse Gallery in Lake George, “is a celebration of color, light and line inspired by the natural world. . . . My paintings go beyond the literal. I am intrigued by the aura of light and building a sense of place.”
As the title of the exhibit (TreeHouse) and the painting reproduced here suggest, this show is a collection of works inspired by exploring the forest from spring to autumn, and gazing up at the canopy of light and color that is created, and re-created, moment to moment.
TreeHouse: Melanie Kozol opens Saturday (May 4) with a reception from 4 to 6 PM at Lake George Arts Project’s Courthouse Gallery (1 Amherst St., Lake George). The exhibit will remain on view through June 7. For more info, call the gallery at 668-2616.
