In case you hadn’t heard, Paramount is almost ready to release J.J. Abrams’ second film in the rebooted Star Trek motion picture series. (It’s called Into Darkness). Just in time to get you Trek-conscious again, It Came From Schenectady is hosting a screening tonight (Thursday) at the GE Theatre of the best-loved of the movies starring the original cast, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
It’s the best loved because it was a sequel to an episode of the original series, with the mighty Ricardo Montalban as a genetically engineered superman who tried, and failed, to take over the Enterprise from Kirk, Spock and company. And, despite Khan’s henchmen (and women) looking more like escapees from a Jane Fonda workout video than the multi-culti gang in the original episode, director Nicholas Meyer succeeded spectacularly.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan will be screened tonight (Thursday, May 9) at 7 PM at the GE Theatre at Proctors (432 State St., Schenectady). Tickets are $9, $6 students with ID. For more info, call the box office at 346-6204.
