On Tuesday (May 14), approximately 60 fourth-grade students from West Point Elementary School enjoyed a day of history lessons via period games and activities at the Stephen and Harriet Myers House on Livingston Avenue in Albany. The children are all from military families and each will likely leave New York state within a few years.
“This is the last stop of our day,” said teacher Theresa Bodiford. “It’s important that these kids learn more about the state of New York. We’ve really been focusing a lot in the last two days on the Freedom Trail and the Underground Railroad. This makes it a little more realistic to them.” The children also visited the Capitol and the New York state museum.
