Heads turned east last week when the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall announced a solo performance by Elvis Costello this fall. If you can’t wait that long for a taste of English pub rock, head south to Hudson this Wednesday for an intimate set with Nick Lowe.
Costello’s early production and songwirting muse, Lowe has recorded 13 albums since his 1978 acclaimed debut Jesus of Cool. The Old Magic was his most recent in 2011, a highlight of what he’s dubbed the “silver-haired second-act” of his career. It’s probably as busy as he’s ever been. Amid a busy touring schedule and periodic collaborations he even found time to appear as a guest alongside Scott Aukerman and Reggie Watts in 2011.
Nick Lowe will perform at Club Helsinki (405 Columbia St., Hudson) on Wednesday (Aug. 21) at 8 PM. Tickets are $45. Call 828-4800 for more info.
