BOOKS, BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS The Spencertown Academy (790 Route 203, Spencertown) is gearing up for their annual Labor Day weekend celebration of all things literary with the 2013 Festival of Books. The event kicks off Aug. 30 (Friday) at 6 PM with a preview party. For $25, you can enjoy some wine, commiserate with fellow book enthusiasts and get first crack at the over 10,000 books that will be on sale. The sale begins Aug. 31 (Saturday) with an “early buying” session from 8 to 10 AM, to which admission is $20; admission to the book sale is free from 10 AM to 5 PM. There will be kids activities from 10 AM to noon; the afternoon is filled with panel discussions for adults. On Sept. 1 (Sunday), the book sale continues from 10 AM-5 PM; there will also be author readings and talks with Verlyn Klinkenborg (More Scenes from the Rural Life), Peter Biskind (My Lunches With Orson: Conversations between Henry Jaglom and Orson Welles) and Hugh Howard (Houses of the Presidents).
