Shen Wei Dance Arts

by The Staff on October 24, 2013

Presented in partnership with Jacob’s Pillow, Shen Wei Dance Arts—who, you may recall, made quite a splash at the opening of the Beijing Olympics—will perform twice this weekend at MASS MoCA. This is in conjunction with the final days of Xu Bing’s monumental Phoenix exhibit.

The program will consist of two works, The Rite of Spring (pictured) and the “riveting” Collective Measures. The former, a Shen Wei repertory favorite which the Houston Press praised for creating “a startling sense of ominous mystery that is exciting to behold,” is set to Stravinsky’s iconic work. Heads up: The performance contains partial nudity.

Shen Wei Dance Arts will perform Saturday (Oct. 26) at 8 PM and Sunday (Oct. 27) at 3 PM in the Hunter Center at MASS MoCA (87 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass.). Tickets are $20-$39, and $18 students with ID. For more info, call (413) 662-2111.
