The Hangar, Sunday

Grammy-award winner Peter Rowan has been called a “chameleon of music genres.” Focusing mainly on bluegrass, folk and country, the songwriter from Massachusetts has also dabbled a bit in psychedelic rock. After playing with a few bands in his earlier days, Rowan embarked on a solo career in the late ’70s. His most recent album The Old School was met with much praise and was nominated by the International Bluegrass Music Association for Album of the Year. Special guest Yungchen Lhamo will open for Rowan at the Ale House’s across-the-street-venue, the Hangar, on Sunday. (Dec. 1, 8 PM, $30, 675 River St., Troy, 272-9740)
