On Tuesday (Nov. 26), the Lucas Confectionery (12 Second St., Troy) installed a retractable glass roof on its garden patio—the first of its kind in the Capital Region.
The historic structure that houses the wine bar and the newest of the owners’ businesses, the Grocery, was once dubbed “Troy’s most endangered building.” Vic Christopher owns the establishments with his wife Heather LaVine, and the wine bar just celebrated its first anniversary. The 30-by-40-foot cover cost $55,000 and will allow customers to take advantage of the outside year-round.
Snow fell on the morning of the installation, but Christopher seemed excited. “We’ve done everything we said we were going to do with this place.”
