When it comes to holiday entertainment, three names stand out: Tchaikovsky, Dickens and . . . Sedaris? Perhaps we’re overstating the case, but only by a little. David Sedaris’ acidic, hilarious, for-adults-only memoir about life as a Macy’s elf, adapted for the stage by Joe Mantello, is now a holiday staple alongside The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol.
Offered this season by Schenectady Civic Players, The Santaland Diaries is directed by Duncan Morrison and stars Mark Stephens (pictured) as Crumpet the Elf.
Schenectady Civic Players’ production of David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries opens tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 6) and runs through Dec. 15 at the Schenectady Civic Playhouse (12 S. Church St., Schenectady). Performances are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 PM; Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM; and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets are $17. To order tickets by phone, call 346-6204.
