The Low Beat, Saturday

Dun, da-dun! We bring you the innaugural Noteworthy-page preview for the Low Beat, Howard Glassman’s new post-Valentine’s rock club on Central Avenue. Last week, the club celebrated a soft opening, an official opening with the Erotics, and now the calendar is starting to fill up splendidly. Expect more of what made Valentine’s great: cold beer, Deadbeats on Wednesdays, ’80s nights on Saturdays, happy-hour shows, all-local $3 Thursdays, and so many good touring bands. Washington, D.C.’s Alarms and Controls will break the stage in Saturday night. The post-rock-influenced power trio released Clovis Points late last year on Dischord Records. So, go forth and get excited. This place is going to be great, but remember: Pepper is still strictly forbidden. (Feb. 22, 8 PM, 335 Central Ave., Albany, 432-6572)
