Over the last dozen years, the Roots & Rhythms exhibit has been a Black History Month tradition at RPI’s Shelnutt Gallery. And, starting today (Thursday), it’s back in its latest incarnation, featuring artists familiar and new.
Artists in this year’s edition include Kwame Marcus Anderson, Francelise Dawkins, Femi J. Johnson, Reginald Madison, Sergio Gonzalez Tornero, Dan Udell, Gregory Coates, Lamerol Gatewood, Marlene Marshall, George Simmons, Stephen J. Tyson and Ron Walton. Pictured is Simmons’ Lucifer (2013).
Roots & Rhythms 2014 will open today (Thursday, Feb. 20) with a reception from 5 to 8 PM at the Shelnutt Gallery (Rensselaer Union, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy). The show, cosponsored by the RPI Black Students Alliance Club, will remain on view through April 10. For more info, call 851-7044.
