The “nod” takes different forms with each artist. Beard has based his recent paintings on glass-plate negatives taken by his great-great grandfather. Halliday likes to “transform classic elements into something more contemporary.” O’Shea is inspired by experiences he’s had in the timeless Hudson River area near his studio. Murphy uses classic materials to create his modern abstracts.
