Lanci’s Ristorante, 68 Putnam St., Saratoga Springs, 581-1973. With but a handful of tables, you’ll enjoy very personal attention as well as a terrific gourmet Italian meal served by chef-owner John Lanci, who clearly loves what he does. Serving dinner Wed-Sun from 5 PM. AE, D, MC. V.

Cella Bistro, 2015 Rosa Road, Schenectady, 381-2080. Northern Italian-inspired continental cooking, with homemade pasta dishes, and excellent duck and a tapas bar for lighter fare. Serving dinner Tue-Sat 5-9. AE, MC, V.

Plum Blossom, 685 Hoosick Road (Route 7), Brunswick, 272-0036. A sweeping array of Chinese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese and other Asian fare served in the most beautifully appointed restaurant in the region. Serving Mon-Thu 11-10, Fri-Sat 11-11, Sun noon-10. AE, D, MC. V.

Vin Santo, 579 Troy-Schenectady Road (Latham Farms), Latham, 786-8272. Small plates—both traditional tapas and innovative fare from chef Chris Sisinni—define this menu, with an excellent wine selection to accompany your meal. Serving lunch Mon-Sat 11:30-3:30, dinner Mon-Wed: 5-11, Thu 5-midnight, Fri-Sat 5-1. AE, D, DC, MC, V.

El Loco Mexican Café, 465 Madison Ave., Albany, 436-1855. After more than 20 years serving creative Tex-Mex fare, this place still offers a good, festive meal and makes sure you don’t leave hungry. Good vegetarian items, too. Serving Tue 4-10, Wed-Thu 11:30-10, Fri 1:30-11, Sat noon-11, Sun 4:30-10. AE, MC. V.

Inferno Restaurant & Pizzeria, 496 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville, 459-2121. The original and now newly rebuilt unit of this popular Albany eatery, with excellent pizza the specialty but also a full menu of classic Italian fare. Serving Mon-Thu 11-10, Fri-Sun 11-11. AE, MC, V.

The Factory Eatery & Spirits, 20 Prospect St., Ballston Spa, 885-0500. This neighborhood joint-cum-sports bar has a varied, casual menu with burgers, sandwiches, salads, a few choice entrées, and a very welcoming personality. Serving breakfast Mon-Fri 8-11, Sat-Sun 8-1, lunch and dinner daily 11-midnight. MC, V.

Spa Brauhaus, 200 E. High St., Ballston Spa, 885-4311. Classic German fare, including excellent sauerbraten and a sausage- and smoked-pork-intense schlacht platter, at a welcoming mainstay that has thrives for over half a century. Serving dinner 4-9 Wed-Sat, 12-8 Sun. CB, DC, MC, V.

Deacon Blues, 806 25th St., Watervliet, 273-9888. Burgers, sandwiches and great, thin-crust pizza are served along with full dinners at this long-lived (27 years!) neighborhood eatery. Serving lunch and dinner Tue-Thu 11-11, Fri-Sat 11-11:30. AE, MC, V.
